Carry on weeding and hoe between crops!

Install guttering and a water butt on your shed, greenhouse or polytunnel. Harvesting FREE rainwater is now essential for DAGA members.

 

Vegetables

Plant under glass, Dwarf and climbing French beans, runner beans, sweet corn, outdoor cucumbers, courgettes, pumpkins, squashes and outdoor cucumbers – all which can be planted out in June

Continue making direct sowings in the soil of lettuce, radish, spinach, turnips and beetroot.

Leeks, Brussels sprouts and French beans sown last month under glass, can now be planted out.

Last month to sow peas and parsnips.

Earth up potatoes.

Fruit

Protect any early strawberries with netting to keep birds and squirrels out.

Put some straw under fruit to keep them off the ground.
